Even three decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, discussions on media education theory and practice remain active in Post-Soviet countries, including Armenia. Based on research into pedagogical media education theory and practice, this paper highlights the modes of implementation of media education, as well as defines its role and place in the academic programmes. The analysis combines both quantitative and qualitative data to present the current state of media education in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Armenia that offer degrees in pedagogy
