Abstract

The article addresses the problem of cooperative communication in polylogues and its role in reaching consensus in a conflict. The article focuses on the strategies and tactics implemented by the participants of the interaction, namely mitigation as a cooperative strategy to reach the communicative goal. Phonopragmatic characteristics of mitigation strategies found in social‐political polylogues are considered, based on auditory and autosegmental analysis.
