Abstract

The development of advanced technologies promotes the rapid spread of the Internet discourse. Currently, there is an enormous amount of information available on social networks, the study of which seems to be a vital necessity. The presented material includes posts and comments expressing complaints which mostly have a negative impact on society. The purpose of the given research is to scrutinize online posts and comments in English, in which users implement some linguistic means to actualize politeness strategies in their complaints. In the research not only are the linguistic means typical of the abovementioned strategies highlighted but also the goals of their realization.
