dc.description.abstract | In the article we consider functional-stylistic peculiarities of newspaper and publicistic style. The aim of the article is to study such stylistic devices as metaphor, oxymoron, epithet, irony, repetition, etc. which are frequently used in newspaper articles. As an object of Linguistic Expertise (LE) the article “NAGORNO-KARABAKH WANTS A SEAT AT THE TABLE” in the Washington Post has been taken. Uncertainty, pessimism, negative attitude of the author can be expressed in conflict texts of newspaper style via devices mentioned above.
