Abstract

The article deals with some textual issues and the genesis, as well as the unique features of poetic culture (first of all, metrics) of Brusov’s last, unfinished book of poetry «Dreams of Mankind», in which the poet managed to embody the ideal of formal diversity, corresponding to his desire to present «all the forms that lyric has passed through among all peoples at all times». To reveal the uniqueness of the book helps to compare it with K. Balmont’s collection «Calls of Antiquity» (1908), which is similar in creative task.
