Abstract

Color names play an important role in defining the national characteristics of the linguistic world picture. The symbolic meaning of the same color name can be significantly different not only among different peoples, but also within the same culture. The present paper emphasizes the origin of pure shades found in the nature, the frequency of their use, and also provides a comparative study of phraseological units with color names in Arabic and Armenian.
