Abstract

The article covers the concept of competency models, their evolution as well as the approaches to their development and application. The article analyses the current diversity of definitions on competency models, excerpted from the available literature, identifying the patterns of the application of these models in the labour market, and proposing to consider their use in higher education, too, in order to verify the achievements of learning outcomes and the validity of the granted qualification.
